If you’ve just picked up a Firestick and want to watch IPTV on it, you’ve probably noticed there’s no “IPTV” button anywhere. That’s because IPTV needs a player app, and one of the most popular is IPTV Smarters Pro.
I’ll walk you through the whole thing here, from getting the app onto your Firestick to logging in. It takes about 10 minutes, and you don’t need to be technical.
What IPTV Smarters Pro actually is
IPTV Smarters Pro is a player. That’s all it is. It doesn’t come with channels, movies or shows of its own, in the same way a DVD player doesn’t come with films.
To use it, you need login details from an IPTV service you’ve subscribed to. Those usually come as a username, password and server URL, or as an M3U link. If you don’t have a subscription yet, you can [start a free trial with us here]([link to your trial page]) and use those details in the steps below.
Before you start
A few quick checks will save you headaches later:
- Your Firestick is connected to Wi-Fi and the signal is decent. A weak connection is the number one cause of buffering.
- You have some free storage. If your Firestick is nearly full, delete apps you don’t use first.
- Your login details are ready. Have them in an email or note you can read from, since typing long passwords on a TV remote is slow.
Step 1: Check the Amazon Appstore first
Some versions of Fire OS let you install IPTV Smarters Pro straight from the Amazon Appstore, which is the easiest route.
- From the Firestick home screen, select the search icon (magnifying glass).
- Type IPTV Smarters Pro.
- If it appears, select it and choose Get or Download.
If you find it, skip ahead to Step 5. If it doesn’t show up, which happens depending on your region and Fire OS version, use the next method.
Step 2: Install the Downloader app
When an app isn’t in the Appstore, the usual workaround is an app called Downloader, which is available in the Appstore itself.
- Search for Downloader (the orange icon).
- Select it and choose Get.
- Wait for it to install, but don’t open it yet.
Step 3: Allow Downloader to install apps
Your Firestick blocks installs from outside the Appstore by default, so you need to give Downloader permission once.
- Go to Settings from the home screen.
- Select My Fire TV.
- Choose Developer options.
- Select Install unknown apps.
- Find Downloader and switch it to On.
If you can’t see Developer options, go to Settings > My Fire TV > About, highlight the name of your device, and press the select button on your remote seven times. A message should say you’re now a developer. Then go back and the menu will appear. Menus differ a little between Fire OS versions, so yours may look slightly different.
Step 4: Download IPTV Smarters Pro
- Open Downloader.
- In the URL box, enter the download address from the official IPTV Smarters website. Always take it from their official site, not from a random link or video description. Unofficial files can contain unwanted software.
- Select Go and wait for the file to download.
- When the install screen appears, select Install.
- When it finishes, choose Done (not Open yet).
- Downloader will offer to delete the installer file. Select Delete to free up space, then confirm.
Step 5: Open the app and log in and add your IPTV Subscription
- Open IPTV Smarters Pro.
- Accept the terms if the app asks.
- Choose Login with Xtream Codes API (the most common option). If your provider gave you an M3U link instead, choose Load Your Playlist or File/URL.
- Fill in the fields:
- Any name: whatever you like, for example “Living Room”
- Username and Password: exactly as given to you
- URL: the server address from your provider
- Select Add User.
The app will load your channels, movies and series. The first load can take a minute or two, especially with a big library, so give it time before assuming something’s wrong.
Open your IPTV player and choose the login method your provider gave you. Or you can choose one subscription from our Best Plans:
Tip: put it on your home screen
It’s annoying to dig through your apps every time. To move IPTV Smarters Pro to the front, highlight it in your apps list, press the menu button (three lines) on your remote, and choose Move to front.
Common problems and how to fix them
“Invalid credentials” or login failed. Check for stray spaces before or after your username, password and URL. Also make sure you used the right login method: Xtream details won’t work in the M3U playlist field, and the other way round. If it still fails, confirm with your provider that the subscription is active.
The app installs but won’t open. Restart the Firestick: go to Settings > My Fire TV > Restart. If that fails, uninstall the app and install it again.
Channels load but keep buffering. Move the Firestick or router closer together, or use an Ethernet adapter if you can. Close other apps running in the background, and avoid heavy downloads on the same network while watching.
The channel list is empty. Refresh the playlist from the app’s settings, or remove the account and add it again. Also check that your subscription hasn’t expired.
You can’t find Developer options. Follow the seven-press tip in Step 3 and look again.
